Synopsis
Let us discover Yolande Simard, land woman, solid like the Laurentian shield, sensitive and fresh like the rustling of spring leaves. This bold and determined woman offers us her “country” to love and leaves behind indelible and founding traces for our collective memory.
This movie is a tender testimony to the quest for the identity of this great lady and to the impact she had on the core of Pierre Perreault’s work, her partner and great love.
Direction
Nadine Beaudet
Originally from North Shore, Nadine Beaudet has never forgotten the place where she was born. It is her career's guiding thread. This sense of belonging to a regional identity led her to study applied sciences and do a master in spatial planning. Nowadays, La fille du cratère, co-directed with Danic Champoux, comes to complete the circle. She found a soul mate in the person of Yolande Simard-Perrault, an accomplice of the great filmmaker Pierre Perrault, who has dedicated her life to the themes of territory and identity.
Direction
Danic Champoux
Since he took part in the 1996-1997 edition of La course autour du monde, a program that allowed many young Quebec filmmakers to take their first steps, Danic Champoux has been on his way to be a director. Destined for theaters, La fille du cratère, which he co-wrote this year with Nadine Beaudet, is really important to him. Focused on Yolande Simard-Perrault, Pierre Perrault's partner in documentary creation, the film draws the portrait of an exceptional woman, while allowing him to pay tribute to the one who once nourished his desire to become a filmmaker and still remains a great source of inspiration to him.
