Synopsis
A veritable aesthetic fresco blending portrait, political documentary and experimental cinema, Miron : a man returned from outside the world recounts the people of Quebec’s collective journey through the work of their greatest poet, Gaston Miron. Consisting exclusively of archive material, this cinematographic essay takes on the form of fragmented memories and stands as a contemplation on the survival of threatened cultures around the world.

After his filmmaking studies at the Université de Montréal (1999-2002), Simon Beaulieu directed his first documentary, entitled Lemoyne (2005), about the Quebecois painter Serge Lemoyne. In 2011, he completed Godin, a feature film about Gérald Godin, poet, politician and an influential figure in contemporary Québec. A hit with critics and audiences, the film garnered numerous awards.With this, his third feature, Miron: a man returned from outside the world, Simon Beaulieu furthers his reflection on the people of Quebec and their collective destiny, in a political and cultural context.
