Synopsis
1642, 3 years ago, The Ursulines arrived in Quebec City from France and are now moving into their recently built monastery; first girls’ school in America.
2018, The last 50 Ursulines are leaving their Quebec City monastery for ever.
This departure shakes the nuns, of course but also the citizens of Quebec City. This context brings Andrée de Billy to make a film, tribute to the last survivors of this secular institution, pillar of the Canadian Heritage.
The five sisters, now in their late 70’s and 80’s give an intimate recollection of their lives; what brought them to be Ursulines. They speak of their spiritual path; they are not afraid to talk about important issues in today’s society and give their vision of the future.
The interviews are sprinkled with ex-students’ testimonies.
A snapshot in history, this movie depicts the 21st century Ursulines’ spirit in an intimate and universal manner.
