A Tribute to Louis Bélanger

Louis belanger

Excerpt

Louis Bélanger is undoubtedly one of the most important filmmakers, not only of his generation, but in the history of Québec film. His award-winning films produced here and internationally have captivated audiences with their honest and endearing characters. Despite the tragic situations in which they evolve, the films often take on a humorous tone. Originally from Charlesbourg, he returns to his hometown to celebrate his work, as the QCFF pays tribute to him with the screening of his first feature film, Post mortem (2010), which has been freshly restored by Éléphant - mémoire du cinéma québécois. Added to this, the premiere of his brand new opus, Vivre à 100 milles à l’heure (2019), will have the honour of being the first movie shown in the recently finished Le Diamant. The tribute continues with a discussion with the director at the National Assembly of Québec, where he will talk about his career up to now, and will end with a free outdoor screening of Les mauvaises herbes (2016) at Place D’Youville.

Don’t miss these opportunities to admire the talent of one of the greatest filmmakers from Québec City and Canada!
